William B. Meyer Spreads the Love!

June 7, 2019

IT’S PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!

Well, in March and April it was, because William B. Meyer organized PB & J Food Drives at four branches in three states. Together, they collected more than 1,400 lbs. of peanut butter and jelly jars for their local food pantries. This outstanding team effort meant that 923 jars in total were able to be delivered to 4 different food pantries in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. That’s enough to make about 12,500 sandwiches!

Peanut butter & jelly are always among the most highly-requested items by food banks. Why? For starters, kids love PB & J and both items typically have long shelf life. Peanut butter's high protein content also makes it a nutritional powerhouse! More than 40% of the food produced in the United States each year is lost or wasted while 40 million Americans face hunger each day.

In addition to holding food drives, William B. Meyer is helping to create a sustainable solution to both problems by collecting non-perishable food items from people who are moving and delivering it to their local food pantries.

Thank you so much to all the teams who contributed to this massive food drive! We are so grateful for your continued support!
