University of Michigan Students "STUFH-a-Bus" with 600+ Pounds of Food

June 13, 2017

The students of University of Michigan's Circle K organization are back at it again with yet another successful food drive to add to the books. These students know that hunger cannot be fought in just a day, therefore they have made it their mission to contribute to the fight each semester. The Circle K organization's most recent drive was their "STUFH-a-Bus" event which was held on campus in Ann Arbor on Saturday, March 18. The drive was yet another success for Circle K and the fight against hunger, as the event brought in almost 620 pounds of food-- that is equivalent to about 500 meals!

The Circle K organization reached out to students and faculty of UMichigan and the local community to come together and contribute what they could in the form of non-perishable items such as peanut butter, tuna fish, pasta, rice, beans, and canned fruits/vegetables. Not only did the "STUFH-a-bus" drive collect 620 pounds of food, but $240 was also raised for the Food Gatherers food bank of Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is a member of the Feeding America network.

Members of the Circle K Organization created flyers and set-up donation boxes all throughout the community, encouraging students and locals alike to join together in the food against hunger. Frisbie Moving & Storage graciously agreed to donate 25 boxes for the event.

The Circle K organization's efforts have led to the collection of about 4,420 pounds of food-- which is equivalent to almost 3,685 meals in just over a year.

Past events run by the Cirle K organization include their annual "Trick or Can" food drive", as well as another "STUFH-a-bus" drive that was held last April.

A big thank you to the Circle K organization at the University of Michigan for helping the over 50,000 people, including 1 in 8 children, in Washtenaw County who face hunger each day.
