Fall food drives are a great way to kick off the holiday season. Abiding Word Lutheran School decided to give back to their community by hosting one of their own food from October 20-29.
Students and faculty members were encouraged to donate non-perishable foods such as peanut butter, jelly, canned fruits/vegetables, tuna fish, rice, pasta, beans, and cereal. Arpin America of Houston volunteered to deliver all of the donations to Denton County Friends of The Family.
The event was a huge success. The students and faculty of Abiding World Lutheran School collected 700 pounds of food, which is the equivalent of 580 meals!
More than 2 million people in Texas are food insecure, including 1 in 4 children. Thank you to Abiding Word Lutheran School for taking action!
