SIRVA Donates Nearly 300 LBS. of Food During Shark Week!

September 10, 2018

Shark Week is one of, if not the, most popular weeks of the year. While most people celebrate by watching Jaws for the millionth time, SIRVA realized that Shark Week is a perfect opportunity to take a bite out of hunger! Employees at their offices in Chicago, IL and San Ramon, CA held a food drive during the week and collected more than 275 lbs. of canned tuna and other non-perishable items. That's enough to provide 230 meals!

SIRVASharkWeekFoodDrive2018_CrownRelocations.pngThe event all started as an idea pitched by Andrea Golden who contacted Move For Hunger about her organization's interest in starting a food drive with a unique concept. From there, our events teams helped create fliers and social media images to help promote the food drive. SIRVA even got creative and added a raffle to help encourage employees to donate -- anyone who brought in 3 cans would be eligible to win a Target gift card! We also connected SIRVA with our partners at Berger Allied of Chicago and Crown Relocations of San Francisco, who volunteered to pick up the donations and deliver them to their local food banks.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Move For Hunger and SIRVA, the Shark Week food drive proved successful and managed to meet goals while being a fun and creative way to raise awareness. Ready to hold a food drive of your own? We'd love to help!
