Sandhill’s Moving & Storage Collects 2,700 LBS. of Food During Their First Food DriveDecember 12, 2018 | 12:24 pm |
What’s more exciting than having a new mover join the Move For Hunger network? Being a part of that mover’s first food drive, of course! We have had a lot of firsts this year with new members, but we were especially excited for Sandhill’s Moving & Storage to jump in.
From October 26-November 17, Sandhill’s Moving & Storage teamed up with several other businesses in the Southern Pines, NC community to collect food donations for their neighbors in need. The Sandhill’s team delivered boxes to each location (including their own office), and encouraged them to fill them up with nonperishables food donations. With every stop they made on the return trip to pick up the boxes, their truck continued to fill with food. By the end, more than 2,700 pounds of food had been collected! That’s enough to provide 2,255 meals – an incredible result for a first time food drive!
The filled truck made it’s final stop at Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, where the donations will be sorted and distributed to the community.
More than 1.5 million people in North Carolina are food insecure, including 1 in 5 children. Thank you to Sandhill’s Moving & Storage Co. and all the businesses who participated in the food drive! Your efforts and dedication will provide a helping hand to families who could use one right now.
