During the month of November, many families are preparing for Thanksgiving. For some, it can be a very exciting time, but for families who are food insecure, it can be much harder. The Saltlight Salon in Lake Worth, FL decided to help their neighbors in need by holding a Thanksgiving food drive!

The Salon collected donations Thanksgiving favorites like cranberry sauce, stuffing, instant potatoes, and other non-perishable items. Those who donated were entered into a raffle to win a gift basket full of prizes for the holiday!

Customers and employees were encouraged to donate and many rose to the challenge! 120 pounds of food was collected, which will provide approximately 100 meals for families in their community! The Palm Beach County Food Bank volunteered to pick up all of the donations, and will distributed them among their 170 partner agencies.

Nearly 190,000 people in Palm Beach County are food insecure, including 1 in 5 children. Thank you to everyone at the Saltlight Saloon for recognizing the urgency of the problem and taking action!

Help us fight hunger in 2019 by holding a food drive of your own!
