To Promote Your Food Drive, Share the Facts!

June 29, 2016

How do you get your town to break out of their bubble and realize that food insecurity is real problem all across the United States? Share the knowledge, of course!

When you are posting online about your food drive, mention how many people in your area are food insecure, including the number of adults and children. Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap allows you to sort the statistics by state, county, and congressional district.

What does your local food bank need the most right now? Do they desperately need more cans of tomato sauce or are they looking for bottled beverages for the hot summer days? Give them a call and get the details so your food drive can truly make a difference in your community!

Don't forget to check out our Visualize Hunger page and share some of these graphics to highlight the scope of the problem. And be sure to utilize our About Hunger page for a look at the systemic issues that cause hunger.

Helping others understand the big picture will go a long way towards making your food drive a success!
