The Planet Fitness located in Waukegan, Illinois held a food drive from December 9-February 3 in order to fight hunger in the local community. Employees and members of the gym were asked to donate non-perishable food items, such as peanut butter, tuna, canned soup, pasta, and cereal, to help provide meals for their neighbors in need. In total, 140 lbs. of food was collected, which is enough to provide about 115 meals!
Shur-Way Moving & Cartage, a National Van Lines agent, helped make this event possible by volunteering to pick up and deliver the donations to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
Since joining our network in 2010, Shur-Way Moving has delivered nearly 1,400 lbs. of food to the Food Bank. More than 50,000 people, including 1 in 7 children, in Lake County are food insecure. Thank you to everyone that was involved in this event! You truly helped make a difference in your community.
