Planet Fitness Holds Food Drive During Hunger Action Month

October 19, 2017

There are more than 318,000 people in Northern Illinois who are food insecure, including 1 in 7 children. The staff at Planet Fitness in St. Charles, IL recognized the urgency of the problem and decided to take action.

From September 11-22, Planet Fitness asked its employees and members of the gym to donate non-perishable food items, such as peanut butter, tuna fish, canned soup, rice, cereal, and canned fruits/vegetables, to help provide meals for their neighbors in need. September is Hunger Action Month, so this was the perfect time to try and inspire their community to get involved.

In less than 2 weeks, Planet Fitness was able to collect 130 lbs. of food -- that's enough to provide 100 meals! Our friends at Ace Relocation Systems of Chicago picked up and delivered all of the donations to the Northern Illinois Food Bank's West Suburban Center.

Thank you to everyone at Planet Fitness and Ace Relocation Systems for working together to make a difference. Hope we can do it again next year!
