Piney Ridge Apartments Scares Away Hunger with A Trick Or Can Food Drive!

November 13, 2018

October is certainly a month that marks a time of change. The leaves transform colors, warm nights turn to chilly evenings, and our time with the sun gets shorter and shorter. Here at Move For Hunger, we think that change is good, especially when it means making a positive impact on the community. That's why we were so excited to hear that Piney Ridge Apartments was going to be hosting a Trick-or-Can Food Drive!

PineyRidgeApartmentsTrickOrCanFoodDrive2018.jpgTrick-or-Can food drives are definitely our favorite thing about Halloween, and it's great to see that Piney Ridge enjoys them, too! This year, residents and staff, as well as local trick-or-treaters, were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, such as pasta, tuna, peanut butter, and canned vegetables. The incentive? Candy, of course! By the end of the drive, they collected 185 pounds of food, which is enough to provide 150 meals for Maryland families in need. Easy Movers, a Wheaton World WideMoving, agent, then generously volunteered to pick up the boxes of food and deliver them to Carroll County Food Sunday.

Halloween may be spooky, but it certainly isn't as scary as hunger and it's effect on more than 665,000 individuals in Maryland, including 1 in 7 children. Thank you so much to Piney Ridge Apartments and Easy Movers for taking the time to make a difference in your community. Your efforts will certainly make it easier for families to put dinner on the table this fall.
