Northshore Moving Rescues 5,650 lbs. of Food/Drinks from Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans Marathon

March 12, 2020

More than 40 million Americans facing hunger, but we are wasting 40% of the food in the United States. We are determined to recover as much food as we possibly can for families who are struggling to put meals on the table. And we have found that an effective way to do that is to rescue unused food and drinks from large events, like marathons.

Thousand of people participated in the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon on February 9. Athletes competing in the race were encouraged to refuel by indulging in Gatorade, granola bars, bananas, oranges, and water after they crossed the finish line. There was A LOT of food leftover, but, thankfully, our friends from Northshore Moving Company volunteered to help! The crew loaded up 5,649 lbs. of food/beverages and delivered it all to the Second Harvest Food Bank

There are currently more than 773,850 people in Louisiana who are food insecure, including 1 in 4 children. Thank you to Northshore Moving Company for helping to feed your neighbors in need!
