For the eighth year in a row, Manasquan, NJ's Xander Bossone held a food drive on his birthday to help fight hunger in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Xander, who celebrated his 18th birthday last month, held a Fill-A-Truck food drive at the ACME grocery store in Manasquan on December 10.
Our friends from Lowy's Moving Service, a Wheaton World Wide agent, once again volunteered to help out with the event. Lowy's had one of their moving trucks stationed outside of the grocery store, and Xander challenged shoppers to help him fill the entire trailer with non-perishable food donations. Although he didn't quite fill the truck this year, Xander did collect 470 lbs. of food, which is enough to provide 390 meals! And, over the past 8 years, Xander has collected more than 27,000 lbs. of food, which is the equivalent of 22,000 meals! All of the donations were delivered to Fulfill by Lowy's Moving Service.
There are nearly 114,000 people facing hunger in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, including 1 in 7 children. Thank you to Xander and Lowy’s Moving Service for your enduring commitment to your community.
