New Jersey Woman Holds Food Drive in Honor of Her Sister

September 14, 2018

Over the past nine years, we have crossed paths with so many inspiring individuals who dedicate so much of their lives to fighting food insecurity. West Long Branch, NJ resident Eileen Hennelly knew that her sister, Elizabeth Bauman, was one of those people. In honor of Elizabeth's life and her incredible support for local food banks, Eileen thought that hosting a memorial food drive would be a perfect way to continue her sister's mission to fight hunger.

From August 6-20, friends and family of Elizabeth and Eileen were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, such as rice, pasta, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned soups, and canned fruits/vegetables. By the end of the drive, more than 270 lbs. of food had been collected by the end of the drive, enough to provide 225 meals! All of the food was then delivered to Fulfill.

More than 100,000 people in Monmouth and Ocean County are food insecure, including 1 in 8 children. The generous efforts of both Elizabeth and Eileen are incredibly appreciated and will certainly help their neighbors in need.

Want to host your own food drive? We can help!
