Holly Court Apartments Collects 250 LBS. of Food!

May 17, 2019

Spring is always a difficult time of year for food banks. Donations tend to decline after the holiday season and, by April, many food banks and pantries are short on supply. That's why our friends fron Holly Court Apartments in Alexandria, VA decided to host a Spring Into Action Food Drive from April 25-May 2.

Holly Court dropped off bags to every apartment in the complex, so residents could donate non-perishable food items for their neighbors in need. Two girls from their community volunteered to help collect the donations as part of a service project. A grand total of 250 lbs. of food was donated - which is enough to provide 210 meals! Our partners from CORT in Washington, D.C. then delivered the donations to their local food bank.

More than 379,000 people in Capital area, including 1 in 8 children, don't know where their next meal will come from. Thank you to Holly Court Apartments and CORT for helping us fight hunger!
