Move For Hunger has a robust internship program for students, recent graduates, and life-long learners with an interest in hunger-relief, to introduce them to the practical components of working in the non-profit industry.

We are currently seeking candidates for our Fall 2018 Internship Program (September-December). This season we are offering five on-site internships (event management, new/social media communications, graphic design, videography & production and program management) in our Red Bank office.

EVENT MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move For Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a dynamic, self-starter interested in learning about non-profit administration, to assist with development, marketing, event planning, and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of non-profit administration while working for an exciting young award-winning hunger-relief organization.

TIME COMMITMENT

  • 2-3 days/week
  • Minimum 14 hrs/week in our Red Bank office

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate level students, or recent college graduates
  • Preferred Majors: Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Health Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Non-profit Management, Business Administration
  • MS Office Proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Outgoing Personality with outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Interest in making a difference in the community

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities will vary from day to day, however, possibilities include the following:

  • Help plan and facilitate food drives and fundraisers, incorporating members and media promotion, as appropriate
  • Assist with the identification and development of member engagement opportunities
  • Create, promote, and maintain fundraising campaign
  • Research current trends within the hunger relief and food waste fields
  • Contribute to social media and website content
  • Assist with events that may occur locally and help recruit volunteers

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP 

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move For Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a dynamic, self-starter interested in learning about marketing and relationship management to join their Programming Team. The Program Management Intern will help expand the organization’s network of moving companies, real estate professionals, and corporate housing providers by supporting the Programming Team with member recruitment, engagement, participation, communications, and encouraging the network to collect food for communities across the United States and Canada. This internship is an excellent opportunity for a student or professional interested in gaining experience in customer relations, marketing, membership management, and non-profit organizational processes, while working for a young award-winning hunger-relief organization.

TIME COMMITMENT

  • 2-3 days/week
  • Minimum 14 hrs/week in our Red Bank office

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College or graduate level students, recent graduates, or professionals looking to change careers

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities will vary from day to day, however, possibilities include the following:

  • Assist with recruitment efforts to expand the Move For Hunger network
  • Assist with member retention and participation campaigns
  • Assist with high volume telephone and email communications with new and existing members
  • Data entry, such as recording food donations or researching food banks
  • Writing and executing social media posts
  • Managing, organizing, and executing mailings, including thank you letters and welcome kits

NEW (SOCIAL) MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP 

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move For Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a dynamic, self-starter interested in learning about new media, also known as social media, communications. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience how social media is used in a professional, non-profit setting, while working for an exciting young award-winning hunger-relief organization.

TIME COMMITMENT

  • Minimum 2-3 days/week
  • Minimum 14 hrs/week in our Red Bank office

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate level students, or recent college graduates
  • Preferred Majors: Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Non-Profit Management.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will work directly with the Communications Manager and Director of External Affairs. Duties and responsibilities will vary from day to day, however, possibilities include the following:

  • Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns
  • Identify and track social media coverage
  • Maintain knowledge of current events and trends within hunger relief and food waste fields
  • Assist in developing social media strategies for a variety of goals
  • Amplify website content through social media posts
  • Assist in developing, organizing, and implementing awareness and giving campaigns
  • Assist program directors with operational initiatives and member communications

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move for Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a creative, motivated, enthusiastic candidate interested in learning more about professional graphic design. The selected candidate with work directly with the events and communications team to help raise awareness about hunger through event fliers, posters, banners, infographics, and images for social media.

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • 2-4 days/week
  • Minimum 10 hrs/week in our Red Bank office
  • Part-time availability during the semester.
  • Additional remote hours may be needed for editing

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign
  • Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment and collaborate
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
  • Photography, Microsoft Office knowledge, videography, Adobe Premier, Adobe AfterEffects are a plus
  • A portfolio that showcases your many talents (required with interview)
  • Be open to constructive feedback
  • Working in a team-oriented environment
  • Candidate must use his/her own laptop during the course of the internship

  • Creating visual content for website and individual posts to our blog/ events section
  • Creating flyers, banners, posters, and marketing materials for food drives and other events
  • Creation of layout and design for internal and external collateral materials
  • Creation of infographics for social media campaigns
  • Input into layout redesign of existing material
  • Attending brainstorm sessions and communication/design meetings
  • Adhering to Move For Hunger’s brand and style guide
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as needed, assigned by the Art Director

VIDEOGRAPHY & PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move for Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a creative, talented, and enthusiastic videography and production intern. The selected candidate will work directly with the Art Director, Executive Director, and Communications Manager to create videos that will help raise awareness about hunger. This is a great opportunity for any self-motivated candidate looking to build their portfolio.

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • 2-4 days/week
  • Minimum 10 hrs/week in our Red Bank office
  • Part-time availability during the semester.
  • Additional remote hours may be needed for editing

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and experience with Adobe Premier & AfterEffects
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Experience with graphic design a plus**
  • Experience with 2D and/or 3D animation a plus**
  • Must be able to work cohesively and collaborate in a team environment
  • Must be organized, detailed oriented, proactive, and deadline-driven
  • A portfolio that showcases your many talents (required with interview)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and/or assist with the production of all video and media projects
  • Assist in selecting, organizing, and editing footage
  • Collaborate with other teams to arrange video shoots
  • Produce dynamic content for YouTube and social media channels
  • Produce branded stock video opening & closings
  • Develop storyboard ideas for new content and videos
  • Combine animation & video
  • Local off-site shooting
  • Absorb creative direction while bringing unique ideas and a point of view to the table
  • Attend brainstorm sessions and video meetings
  • Adhere to Move For Hunger’s brand and style guide
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as needed
