Team Move For Hunger is thrilled to be chosen as an official charity for the iconic Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon & 5K! Join us at this long standing and well respected race as we race through the scenic neighborhoods of Santa Monica, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, turning our miles into meals one step at a time.
In it’s 32nd year, the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon is a historical and bucket list race for many. The race was inspired by the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the course has gone through some changes to encourage a fast lead pack. Starting at the famous Dodger Stadium, this race is a fun filled adventure complete with bands and cheerleaders all along the route. The finish line festival is fun for everyone, complete with a beer garden and massage tent for runners looking to relax after a great race.
Over 5 million California residents are food insecure, with over 22% of those in need being children. Meanwhile, over 40% of all food produced in the United States ends up in landfills*. What can you do to help? By joining Team Move For Hunger, your fundraising donations go to help keep much needed food on the table for many, instead of in the trash.
WHAT DO MY DONATIONS DO?
By becoming a member of Team Move For Hunger, your fundraising donations go to keep our nation’s food banks stocked and meals on the table. Our network of relocation industry specialists help to reduce food waste and deliver much needed food to our local food banks when people are moving. With nearly 50 million Americans that struggle with hunger, your help is needed more than ever. And since 96% of every dollar donated is going back to our hunger relief and food rescue programs, you can be assured that your miles are turned into meals for those in need. In the last seven years, our network of movers, realtors and corporate housing providers have delivered 7 million pounds of food – let’s keep it moving!
HOW DOES THE TEAM WORK?
Great question! All you need to do is fill out our online registration form and our Team Captain Emily will send over some fundraising and training tips, along with a link to create your personal fundraising page on Crowdrise. Upload your personal picture and information and you’re ready to go! Gather donations from friends, family, coworkers and anyone who wants to help us fight hunger in America. You’ll receive bi-monthly newsletters filled with great information to help you cross the finish line, all while your fundraising donations enable us to continue our life saving services. Once you’ve hit the fundraising bench marks and are committed to raising the $650 minimum (Marathon) or $350 (5K), we will register you with the race, getting your free entry along with a stylish Team Move For Hunger technical tee or tank top. If you raise more, the incentives just get better! It’s a fun, easy and effective way to help fight hunger, just by turning your miles into meals.
WHAT IF DON’T RAISE THE MINIMUM?
Due to the enormous popularity of this event, we require a valid credit card number to secure a spot on the Team. In order to receive an entry, please note of the follow fundraising deadlines:
January 25th – $250 Marathon, $100 5K. These minimums must be met to receive a registration link for a free entry.
March 13th – Final fundraising deadline. If the minimum is not met the remaining balance will be charged to the card.
