Back for a second year, Team Move For Hunger is ready to race away hunger and food waste at the Grandma’s Marathon & Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon! A big race feel with small town charm is what this race is famous for. Nestled in Duluth, Minnesota, Team Move For Hunger is excited to partner with this well respected endurance race. Since it’s inception in 1977, the Grandma’s Marathon has delivered one of the nation’s most loved and admired events, taking athletes on a scenic course along the North Shore of Minnesota. By joining Team Move For Hunger at this long standing race, YOU can actually make a difference in the fight against hunger and food waste just by lacing up.
1 in 6 Americans, including 568,000 Minnesota residents struggle with hunger. At the same time, nearly 40% of all food produced ends up in landfills. By joining Team Move For Hunger, your fundraising donations help our network of movers, realtors and corporate housing professionals deliver much needed food to our local food banks. By fundraising the $500 minimum, you get entry to this premier race and support our efforts to reduce food waste and put meals on the table for those in need. In addition to a guaranteed entry to this sold out event, you’ll receive some great gear, fundraising and training advice and the ability to make your miles count. And since 96% of every donation going directly back to our hunger relief and food waste reduction efforts, you truly will be turning your miles into meals.
HOW DOES THE TEAM WORK?
Great question! All you need to do is fill out our online registration form and our Program Manager Emily will send over some fundraising and training tips, along with a link to create your personal fundraising page on Crowdrise. Upload your personal picture and credit card information and you’re ready to go! Gather donations from friends, family, coworkers and anyone who wants to help us fight hunger in America. You’ll receive bi-monthly newsletters filled with great information to help you cross the finish line, all while your fundraising donations enable us to continue our life saving services. Once you’ve committed to raising $500, we will register you with the race, getting your free registration along with a stylish Team Move For Hunger technical tee or tank top. If you raise more, the incentives just get better! It’s a fun, easy and effective way to help fight hunger, just by running or walking.
WHAT IF DON’T RAISE $500?
Due to the enormous popularity of this event, we require a credit card number to secure a spot on the Team. If the $500 is not raised by the fundraising deadline of June 3rd, 2017, the remaining balance will be charged to the card. When you create your fundraising page on Crowdrise, you will be prompted to enter a valid credit card number. Please note – your card will only be charged if you do not meet the fundraising minimum.
In order to receive an entry, please note of the follow fundraising deadlines:
April 14th– $250 must be raised to receive a registration link for a free entry.
June 3rd– Final fundraising deadline. If the minimum is not met the remaining balance will be charged to the card.
