CORT of Boston Makes a Splash by Holding a Food Drive During Shark Week

August 9, 2018

Our partners from CORT in Boston participated in our Shark Week campaign, in which we asked members of our network to hold a food drive and collect cans of tuna to help fight summer hunger in the communities they serve. The CORT crew collected 215 lbs. of food during the week-long event, which will provide 180 meals for their neighbors in need! They nailed it, much like a hammerhead. All donations were delivered to The Greater Boston Food Bank.

Food insecure families face an even greater struggle during the summer when children are on vacation and are no longer receiving meals at school. In order to assuage this problem, Shark Week Food Drives are held to collect as much tuna and other non-perishable goods as possible! Tuna happens to be one of the most frequently requested items by food banks because of its high protein content, and CORT really helped take a bite out of hunger by collecting food for their community.

It was Jawfully nice of them to help out, especially since 1 in 10 people in Massachusetts are food insecure, including 1 in 8 children, so every donation matters! Thank you to everyone at CORT Boston for really sinking your teeth into this effort!

Would you like to host your very own food drive? We can help!
