Bronx Middle School Holds 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive!

December 11, 2018

The holiday season is a very exciting time for many different reasons, but at Move For Hunger, our favorite part is all of the food drives! Not every family will get the chance to eat a Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones, but it’s the kindness from all over the country that is changing that. One of those out there making that change is P.S. M.S. 280, a school in the Bronx, NY.

After a successful food drive in 2017, P.S. M.S. knew that they wanted to dedicate their November to giving back once again. To get everything started this time around, Simply Moving dropped off empty boxes to the school. Students, faculty, and members of the community had their hearts set on filling those boxes, and breaking last year's collection weight of 275 pounds. We are very happy to report that they did just that - 385 pounds of food was collected! That's enough to provide 320 holiday meals!

The Food Bank For New York City picked up the donations to get them to the families that need it most. It's so great to see what the school did for their community this Thanksgiving, especially with more than 230,000 people food insecure people in Bronx County, including 1 in 5 children. Thank you so much to P.S. M.S. 280 for all your kindness and dedication, we hope to see you go for three in a row with another Thanksgiving Food Drive in 2019!

Spread some holiday cheer this December by holding a Season of Giving Food Drive.
