“Racing” Towards 2022: A Recap of Team Move For Hunger’s Impact In 2021

November 4, 2021

Can you believe 2021 is almost over? Neither can we! Team Move For Hunger had a fantastic year “racing” towards our goals and promoting the fight against hunger, providing over 27,000 meals so far this year!

Following a year of quarantine and cancellations, it’s been a slow return for our team. But we are beyond excited to celebrate the return of our race team to marathons and other endurance events! So far this year, we were able to turn our miles into meals in several events: Grandmas Marathon 2021 Aaron Whiteford.JPG

  • Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota - Marking our first in-person Team Move For Hunger event in 2021, our participants provided over 18,000 meals for those in need.
  • The San Francisco Marathon - Team Move For Hunger marathoners for this event  raised $2,500, equalling over 6,000 meals.
  • Colfax Marathon in Denver, Colorado - Team Move For Hunger half marathoners for this event provided over 1,000 meals for those in need.
  • Rock n’ Roll San Diego Marathon - Our Team Move For Hunger participants for this event provided over 600 meals.
  • DIY Marathon - Team Move For Hunger member, Jordan Bute, ran an ultra marathon (50 miles), as part of the Virtual Moon Joggers-Locking Arms in Love event. He raised $625, providing almost 1,500 meals.

This December, we’re excited to also be racing in the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country 1/2 Marathon this  December! Named one of the top seven most scenic half marathons in the United States by Forbes, this event takes place in the gorgeous wine country of California. Yep, that’s right - you get to race to wine. We already have Team Move For Hunger marathoners signed up, click here to join in!TeamMFH21

Didn’t get to participate in a race this year? In 2022 you’ll have plenty of opportunities! So far, we’ve filled our calendar with sixteen races, like the Colfax Marathon, and the Rock n’ Roll series across the country.. We’ve added a few new races too, like the Rock n’ Roll Savannah Marathon, Chevron Houston Marathon, April Fools Half Marathon in New Jersey, and more!

Additionally, returning to the race calendar in 2022, after a 2020 cancellation and intentional 2021 deferment, Big Sur International Marathon, in Carmel, California, is back! Thi event is already sold out and the only way IN is through a charity like ours. In 2019, the last year the event took place, Team Move For Hunger provided over 50,000 meals for our underserved communities through our participants' dedicated efforts and determination. Unfortunately, Big Sur has limited spots available - but there’s still time to sign up for a spot on Team   Move For Hunger
