August 2020 Community of the Month: The Century

September 25, 2020

Move For Hunger is proud to announce that The Century, a Pillar Properties apartment community, has been named our Multi-Family Community of the Month for August 2020!

In August, The Century collected over 500 lbs. of food, which will provide 415 meals for their neighbors in need. Our friends from Hansen Bros. Moving and Storage volunteered to deliver all the food to the Northwest Harvest Food Bank of Western Washington.

Though The Century’s August success put them over the top, their contributions throughout 2020 have been incredible! From collecting more than 1,050 lbs. of food during this year’s Mardi Gras Food Drive, to collecting 1,500 lbs. of food in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the residents and staff of The Century have provided over 2,000 meals for those in need in Seattle. It is this type of dedication and passion that has also awarded The Century as Move For Hunger’s March 2020 Community of the Month and 2019 Community of the Year!

When asked about the importance of giving back to the community, The Century Property Manager, Pascal Coufal, expresses a need for immediate response during these troubling times. Coufal says, “Especially right now, food banks around the city need our help. With schools going to virtual classrooms, families need food support without school lunches. As more and more people are struggling with employment or facing income restrictions, it’s more critical than ever to give back to our community.” As we all learn to navigate life throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, The Century’s impactful acts of compassion provide aid and hopefulness to all those struggling to find normalcy and stability.

Since The Century has been wildly successful throughout their partnership with Move For Hunger, Coufal shares words of wisdom to all those in the Move For Hunger network who strive to collect lots of donations to help those in need. Coufal suggests, “Make sure to consistently share the message as well as your company values to achieve your goals. It starts with your team, the more your team gets behind and advocates for the program, you will see more engagement with the residents.”

To date, The Century has donated over 4,150 lbs. of food and provided nearly 3,463 meals. We are so thankful to the residents and staff of The Century and to the Hansen Bros. Moving & Storage team for providing help to those in need, especially during these unpredictable times.
