NorthStar Moving® Company, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, has once again teamed up with Move for Hunger, a non-profit organization working with moving companies across the country to deliver food to local food banks, to host the second annual “Holiday Food Drive: Let’s Send Hunger Packing!” to aid in feeding children and their families in Los Angeles County.
“Last year NorthStar Moving collected 1,200 pounds of food, so we are thrilled to partner with the company again to assist in such a critical effort for the Los Angeles community,” said Executive Director of Move for Hunger Adam Lowy. “The generous donations will truly make a difference for the more than 1.7 million in LA County who are at risk of hunger every day, including 400,000 children.”
The food drive runs through December 27, 2012. NorthStar Moving will then transport all of the donated items to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Donations are being accepted at ten of Los Angeles’ top apartment buildings, all of which have generously agreed to donate space for the food drive:
Donations can also be dropped off at NorthStar Moving’s headquarters at 9120 Mason Avenue, Chatsworth, California, as well as online.
“One out of four children in Los Angeles County go to bed hungry. By donating even one food item you will be helping feed a hungry child. Either drop off food or donate directly to the Los Angeles Food Bank. You can do this now without even having to go to the grocery store. Just donate online. Please join us in our goal of providing every family a warm meal so their table can be a true holiday table,” said NorthStar Moving Co-Founder Laura McHolm. “We are asking everyone to please join us in sending hunger packing! And we are so inspired by our partners at the area apartment buildings and Move for Hunger who have been absolutely wonderful in helping us fill our trucks to supply the Los Angeles Food Bank at this critical time of year.”
UPDATE: 653 pounds of food was collected and donated to the food bank. This will provide over 500 meals for those in need in the community!
